We live in a society convinced of our free will and ability to make our own decisions. However, we might have much less control over our own behavior than we realize. Governments often take advantage of the delicacy of information to manipulate rhetoric and perception of their citizens, through techniques like suppression, attention diversion, and distortion. Less apparent, more mundane ways are used to manipulate people’s behavior can be manipulated without their knowledge, through the use of designed systems. A focused view of an isolated designed system, reveals an amplified version of social control and government manipulation of people, which mirrors our current society stripped away from subtlety.
